It’s the industry term for blowing hair firmly in one direction—only to flip it to the opposite side for the actual style.
“It’s the secret to major volume,” says Sharpton. Roots are so “overdirected” one way that flipping them creates a
springboard effect. So if you want to part your hair to the right side, drastically part it to the left and blowdry
(or vice-versa), pulling roots upwards—then flip.
